1/2 Studio Scale Sandcrawler (R/C)

This one is one my favorite subject. I didnt built this model at 1.1 scale because the main parts of the boggies are from 4 R/C Tamiya Sherman (1/16 scale). I was not able to spend $1600 only on those kits. Plus it takes a lot of space and my house is not the Lucas Archives, so I had to go with a half sized model. I drawn all the plans at Studio Scale then reduced them to 50%. All details were also drawn, using actual kitparts as reference.

This model will be remote controlled and will feature lights (grain of wheat) like the ILM prop. Always like the studio model, the left side will be unfinished.

Each panel is cut and glued in place. I didnt want to go with a scribbed hull which is not convaincing IMHO. This way we obtain no flush panels which reflect the light differently. More realistic !

The strucuture is made of wood and is very strong, actually I can sit on it. That's really a quick build and I enjoy it.

Now some pics :
